Client Letters and Other Correspondence

I wish to thank everyone at TOPS for taking such good care of my Border Collie, Tevi, after he severed his achilles tendon on June 30, 2008. With continued therapy and chiropractic care at TOPS, Tevi earned his first titles in an American Herding Breed Association stock dog trial on October 31 and November 1 during Magic's Legacy's Stocktoberfest. He qualified for two titles of JHD (Junior Herding Dog) - one on Goats and one on Sheep.

Congrats to Tevi JHD

Dear Dr. McCauley

It has been several years since we have used the services available from TOPS. Our German-Shepard mix pup, Doc, received incredible treatment from this facility. So many thank-you's go out to the staff; receptionists, physical therapists, the doctors at the site.  Doc passed back in may of 2007. Because of the quality of therapy Doc received starting in January of 2006, not only could he use his back legs again, he actually got back into being able to "jog" again! TOPS facility gave our best friend another 15 months of loving life. He died at a respectable age of 11+. My husband and I always tell friends and people we meet at the dog parks about the care and love TOPS employees offer. We now have Boris and Samiam, King Shepherd dogs, who will definitely be at this facility in the future if needed. Keep on doing what you do best - taking care of our babies! Sue & Paul

Dear Dr. McCauley,

Please let me take a moment to sincerely thank you and your wonderful office staff for the absolutely amazing, professional, courteous, kind and exemplary service! It is our honest belief that if all human medical offices were run as well as is yours, the world would be a much better place!

In these days of patients (human or otherwise) perhaps achieving the best technical expertise, the (human?) factor of kindness, consideration and empathy seem to get lost in the race. Not at your offices though; our experience could not have been better and your office staff follows up and thru so much more thoroughly than really any other offices I have come into contact with in the past decade or so and I wish to sing their praises!

What this has taught us, is to be good researchers to find services where our comfort levels are met. You and your staff have exceeded our expectations in every regard--the only thing that could possibly make it better is if you were located down the street! But for this level of care and concern, the trip is worth it!

Now to business...

Dr. McCauley,

Thanks for taking such good care of Bowser during his really complete exam. I'm afraid the relief I got from seeing him so calm and happy sort of interfered with my evaluation of your examination procedure. In retrospect, I'd have to say that I've never seen a better examination, more carefully and exhaustively done, and at the same time so gentle on the dog. As with Olympic athletes, it seems easy and flowing and graceful until you try to do it and then you come to the realization of how hard it is. You made it easy for Bowser and certainly made it look easy and casual. One of the downsides of being so good at what you do is that it sometimes isn't appreciated because it looks so easy. I saw a master clinician at work and am enjoying it as I play it back in my mind. During the exam, my attention was on Bowser and how gently and humanely he was treated and how calmly he responded. His relief was my relief. In retrospect, there was an artist as well as a clinician showing as well as I have ever experienced it the "art" part of the art of healing. It's a rare experience and I appreciate being able to share in it, as a sort of onlooker, but even more knowing that Bowser will benefit from his association with you.

In my experience as a therapist, it has become clear that it isn't so much the results that count, it is the process that leads to those results that counts. Even the proper outcome imposed the wrong way doesn't seem to work very well. I guess I'm trying to say that whatever the outcome of his treatment, the process of treatment will be done in a kind and humane way and Bowser's feelings and needs will be paramount. I certainly couldn't ask for more.

Dr. McCauley,

It was GREAT meeting you and your staff yesterday. I learned a lot and am very appreciative of the skills and talent that you provide, and your willingness to TEACH. That is so nice to see! You really have an impressive place and your skills with the dogs as well as their owners are phenomenal.

Everything that everyone has said was RIGHT!!

Tom,

I just wanted to drop you a line to let you know how happy my husband and I am of the care we received at TOPS. Fletcher gets better every day. We received 5 inches of snow this morning and he was actually "frolicking" in the snow this morning. I am so pleased with his recovery and hold no doubt that it is due to Laurie and her staff. I appreciate you and your wife's willingness to work with me and my family during a difficult time. It did not go overlooked. How very professional and compassionate TOPS is! I have told all I know about your facility and given them your web site. We are grateful to have been a part of the TOPS family.

Regards,

Suzanne

I was told by his orthopedic surgeon that my sheltie Keenan would never do agility again, his leg would never be strong enough after suffering a broken bone and resulting osteoarthritis in his hock.  After PST therapy, hydro-treadmill, and chiropractic adjustments at TOPS, he is back doing agility and competing again at the Excellent level.  We are even ready to try herding.  Dr. McCauley and her staff are first rate.

Subject:  Manda is finally Home!

Manda came home from her "multi-month medical odyssey" yesterday and she is in much better shape than she was before her surgery...In fact, Manda seems to feel much better than she has in years!...And, the visit to TOPS Veterinary Rehab did the trick...(Although in the family we refer to TOPS as "The Spa")...Most of you know that Manda went from the Vet hospital at MSU to TOPS over three weeks ago and the rehab services that Manda got at TOPS allows her to walk on all four legs and to jump up and run around (she'll always run goofey).....She benefited from the hydro-treadmill; exercise routine; ultrasound therapy; neuromuscular electrical stimulation; massage; passive range of motion exercises; electrical acupuncture; regular acupuncture; chiropractic therapy; and vitamin treatments....Although Cynthia is SURE that the TV in Manda's (5 foot by 7 foot) "suite" that Cynthia would faithfully set to WB when we would visit Manda is what really did the trick!....One way or the other, Manda is home, and she will be on her exercise regime and water treadmill therapy for the foreseeable future......Now, I'd like to know if TOPS will work with people....I'm sure many of us would like to check in!...

Dear Dr. Laurie,

I write this letter a day after what is a big milestone for Mark, Mila, and myself -- Mila's 10th birthday.

When I think back to the very first time we drove up to Grayslake, for the initial evaluation, both of us were very concerned that Mila might not make it to her upcoming 8th birthday, yet alone her 9th or 10th.  We call her "Miracle Mila", but we know her progress has been very much the result of your efforts and that of your staff.

We are grateful for all of your individual help, and guidance through some difficult times (the second FCE).

May you and your staff have a very happy holiday and successful upcoming year in your new facility.  And, may there be other "Miracles".

Very truly yours,

Mark and Diane

(Mila, too)

Dr. Laurie & Staff,

Thank-you so much for all you did for Dudley, for a dog that seemed not much hope to ever walk again, to a dog that runs to the door when I come home is a miracle!  I'm sure we'll be back for treatment now and then but for right now he's doing great.  All my heart felt thanks to you and your wonderful staff!!

Ron & "Dudley"
