Where do TOPS clients come from?
Naturally, most of TOPS clients come from the greater Chicago area.  You may be surprised, however, at the number of clients that seek our services from out of state.  Here is a current map of the location of TOPS' US clients.  Not included below are the several clients we have outside the United States.

Why choose "TOPS"?
Dr. Laurie McCauley opened TOPS Vet Rehab's doors in August 1998 at a time when veterinary rehabilitation was practically unheard of.  Since that time, Dr. McCauley has become one of the world's more recognized names in veterinary rehabilitation, lecturing nationally and internationally on the topic, which may be why TOPS clients come from literally all over the country, and some from outside the country.

If you choose TOPS, your dog will be evaluated by a licensed veterinarian, certified in both veterinary acupuncture and animal chiropractic. As well, the treatment plan will be developed and overseen by the veterinarian.  This is critical in the case of geriatric dogs, dogs with additional medical conditions, or simply for peace of mind.

Additionally, TOPS also employs a licensed physical therapist in the role of rehabilitation therapist, which helps us provide the most comprehensive treatment plan available.

If you are looking for a veterinary rehabilitation center, we welcome you to call and get a chance to learn more about our services that the types of treatment options that may be able to help your pet.

Driving Policy
Recognizing the inherant dangers of talking, texting, or using the internet while driving, TOPS has instituted a policy banning such use. We care about those of you out there driving next to us, and want to do our best to ensure your safety.  While we are not a 'drive-intensive" business, there are still times when employees are driving on company business or time.  During those times use of a cellphone shall not be allowed.  Please consider joining us and helping keep the streets safe!

Featured Case - "Ezra" Blinn

Many of us dread the thought of exercising - it's not much fun. Well, meet Ezra, a 4 year old Papillon from central Indiana. Exercise is not just fun, it's an adventure! Ezra, one of the most charming guys you'll ever meet, came to TOPS because he was refusing to jump in agility training and competition. His rehab treatment started in January 2008, when this six pound tracking, agility and obedience participant traveled with his mom Karen, to find out what his issues were. Prior to the evaluation, his x-rays were reviewed, which showed a tipped sacrum.  During the exam, the following was also found:  1) he was tender and had inflammation of the muscles in his back; 2) he had carpal hyper-extension; 3) his tensor fascia latae muscle was strained, 4) he was kyphotic (roachy) in his mid back, and 5) he also had lost proprioception in his rear limbs (meaning he didn't know where his feet where in space). The suggested treatment plan included exercise, continuing his existing chiropractic treatments, and massage.

TOPS' Hydro-Treadmill First in the World for Canine use

When TOPS built it's pool and installed the world's first hydro-treadmill used specifically for dogs, we were sure it would be a big part of our rehab treatments. We just didn't know how big. In fact, when we expanded our facility in 2002, we included two underwater treadmills to keep up with the demand, which have been used over 6000 times since the first one was installed.  These treadmills have played an enormous part in the success of each of our Walk of Fame cases. Numerous other facilities around the country have bought or are in the process of buying a treadmill. We're glad to see that more and more dogs across the country will be able to benefit from this type of therapy.
