Welcome Dr. Lisa Starr
TOPS is proud to announce that Dr. Lisa Starr will be joining our staff as a full-time veterinarian on 1/4/2010.  Dr. Starr comes to us as the former Director of Rehabilitation at a very progressive clinic on the east coast.  Dr. Starr has previously completed her certifications in rehabilitation and acupuncture, and will be undergoing her chiropractic certification upon her arrival in the Chicago area.  She brings great experience and passion for rehabilitation to TOPS, and is excited to be sharing her knowledge, as well as gaining new knowledge from us.  Welcome Dr. Starr!
Congratulations to Dr. Deanne Zenoni
Please join us in congratulating Dr. Deanne Zenoni and her husband Mike.  Dr. Deanne and Mike welcomed their first baby, Mila, into the world on 10/13/2009.  This is an exciting time for them as they embark on a new chapter in their lives.  Following her maternity leave, Dr. Zenoni will rejoin TOPS in more of a relief capacity filling in for other doctor's vacations, Continuing Education, etc.

New Types of Evaluations
To provide a more flexible process for getting your dog evaluated, we have expanded our evaluation process to include two new types of evaluations:  1) Sports Medicine Evaluation; and 2) Post-Surgical Evaluation.  This provides more options for our clients in certain circumstances and a more focused approach for some of our evaluations.  These are the different evaluation options you now have:

- Comprehensive (our original evaluation)

- Extended (for patients unable to walk or rise independently)

- Sports Medicine (sporting dogs, without any known musculoskeletal or neurological issues)

- Post-Surgical (healthy dogs where surgery has been performed on only one joint)

- Hospice (patients uncomfortable during the last part of their life with cancer or organ failure)

Please call us to discuss any of these options that you may have questions about.

"Pet"-onomic Stimulus - Save 20% on Evaluations for a Limited Time

Cool Treatment Options
We have some cool treatment options that we want to tell you about / remind you of in case its' application pertains to your pet:

* Assisi Therapy:  This is a very effective, human FDA approved, acute pain control device, using a proprietary type of PEMF (Pulsed Electromagnetic Field) therapy.  It has been shown to be effective for pain following surgery, pain associated with a sprain, strain, muscle pull or ligament injury, and for arthritis that is painful after exercise.  Check out their website at www.assisivetrx.com.

* Pulsed Signal Therapy: This therapy helps with more than just pain.  It can actually stimulate cartilage growth.  Check out their website at www.pstvet.com.

* Cold laser therapy:  Not cold as in "brrr", but cold as in "not cutting."  Cold Laser Therapy can decrease scar tissue around the joints, relieve joint and back pain, heal bursitis, tendonitis, sprains, strains and stimulate wound healing. From lick granulomas to pressure sores there is a significant decrease in pain and healing time with laser therapy

Protecting Your Identity
Identity Theft is becoming a major problem in the U.S.  You should know that we take protecting your identity very seriously at TOPS.  You can be sure of the following:
  • All staff members have been trained on how to protect your critical records.
  • Procedures have been reviewed and/or enhanced to ensure the utmost protection is in place.
  • Our credit card machine is PCI Compliant, providing peace of mind that any information stored on the machine is safe.

As well, we are asking for your help in one area.  We need to ask that all clients remain in the public areas of TOPS only, which includes the following:  1) Therapy Room (aka Pool Room); 2) Exam Rooms; 3) Lobby and 4) Client Bathroom.  Outside of these areas, you will need to be escorted by one of our staff members.  Thank you for your cooperation.
